Band Profile - AVM

Hometown Fest’s Opening Act is all Classic Rock and Roll!

AVM takes the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater stage on Thursday July 2, 2009 at 5:00pm.

This Chicago based quintetavmband lead by singer-songwriter and music producer Robert Mackey, possess that rare magical ability to transcend across musical boundaries and age demographics.

“We constantly push for musical excellence with our performances while keeping the songs accessible, relatable and memorable for our audience” says Mackey who insists on making sure that the songs on the album “flow”. “I really love it when a fan says that they put on the CD and before they realized it, nearly an hour had gone by…”

With musical hooks so big and haunting you can hang both your coat and hat, AVM has a sound similar to today’s major artists like U2, Train, Goo Goo Dolls and Collective Soul.  Mackey’s songs and music also shine brightly with inspiration from legendary rock artists like Kansas, Pink Floyd, Foreigner, Peter Gabriel, Don Henley and Electric Light Orchestra.

This local band was born on the north side of Chicago, playing small rooms in the early ’90’s as an acoustic duo.

Special North Pole News Alert! Santa Clause is coming to Palatine on July 4th!

Santa is coming down from the North Pole to ride in the Parade on July 4th!  He will be helping to collect food donations for the Palatine Township’s Food Pantry.

Bring a can of food or a non-perishable food product to the parade and Santa will help load it on the trailer!

Hometown Toss Set for the 4th

dscf9488 Hometown Toss will take place Saturday July 4th.

Warm Up and Registration starts at 1:00pm.

Tournament begins at 2:00pm.

Location: Community Park, East Baseball Field

Entrance Fee: $10 for a 2 person team (previously mentioned at $15.00 per team, entrance fee has been reduced!)

All registration will take place prior to the tournament.  No pre-registration will occur this year!  Just come ready to play and help a great cause!

All proceeds will go to Relay For Life of Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Inverness.
